IELTS
What is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System is used to assess the language ability of people who need to study or work in a place where English is the main language of communication. The test has an academic and general version depending on your requirements and both cover the four main language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Who needs IELTS?
IELTS is a useful test for a variety of people who require an official qualification to prove their skills in the English language:
- Non-native English speakers need IELTS in order to pursue academic study in the UK, an IELTS test score is requested by most British colleges and universities.
- IELTS is recognised by employers in the UK and necessary for some non-native English speakers who want to work in positions such as doctors, nurses, dentists and pharmacists.
- Anyone, including native English speakers, who may be required to confirm an official IELTS score in order to seek immigration to Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
