Support for students is sterling

Sunderland College is offering a bumper package of support to students who choose to study at the college this year.

The college is offering £2400 over two years, to students aged 16-18, double the amount offered by many other colleges in the region.

Nigel Harrett, acting principal at Sunderland College, said: “Despite the abolition of the EMA grant, Sunderland College remains committed to providing its students with high levels of support which is why we’ve put together a comprehensive support package of up to £1200 per year.

“This support, our high standards of teaching and award winning guidance service, is all designed to help students reach their full potential.  And it’s working, students studying at Sunderland College are consistently getting better results, pass rates have remained the highest over the last four years”

Additional support is on offer in the form of selected free travel and some students may even qualify for free meals.
