Views sought on future of engineering

Engineering firms are being asked to help ensure the future of the industry by taking part in a survey.

The survey, conducted by Sunderland College, is asking companies for their views on the skills and training they believe the next generation of engineers will need.

The aim is to shape the college’s engineering courses to ensure they stay relevant to the needs of the engineering sector.

Ken Hern, curriculum lead for engineering and science at Sunderland College said: “The needs of the engineering sector are rapidly changing with the emergence of new technologies and ways of working.

“It’s vital that college courses respond to these needs, training future engineers in relevant skills and ensuring they are ready for working in the industry when they leave.”

“This survey can make a real difference and benefit both students and employers.”

To complete the survey go to www.sunderlandcollege.ac.uk/employersurvey/. The survey closes on March 2.

(Everyone that completes the survey will be entered into a draw to win £100 worth of Marks and Spencer vouchers.)
